CONSULTATION

Before the shoot we discuss what to expect and any concerns you have. We talk about clothing, hair, location and what to bring. If you have anything specific in mind, I love to hear your ideas.

THE SHOOT

All shoots are done outdoors to take advantage of the natural light and unconfined space. It is low-key and relaxed. I have fun with your children.  Infants that cannot sit up are best photographed at your home where they are comfortable and we can take feeding/diaper breaks when needed. Pet shoots are usually done at your home and make use of available window light and outdoor light depending on the pet.

Children & pets are unpredictable, so I take as much time as needed during the shoot. We stop for breaks and snacks or whatever it takes to unwind if those “stressed-out” moments should occur. Although a typical shoot takes 1 1/2 hours, I don’t put a time limit on capturing the kind of images you have come to me for.

When photographing siblings, I will do together shots as well as individuals. This ensures a nice selection for framing options later on.

WEATHER & ILLNESS

Like children, they are equally unpredictable. There is never a problem if we need to reschedule due to rain, cold, excessive heat or a bad runny nose. To get great, natural shots of your children, they need to feel well and be comfortable. I prefer to reschedule than do a shoot in less than optimal conditions. I will always call you the day before the shoot to confirm and talk about weather and how your child is feeling.
